55/100 TAKE RISKS
Increase your luck by venturing outside of the safe zone.
Luck is defined as success or failure caused by chance (see page 11). Educator Tina Seelig became fascinated by the subject and quickly learned that luck is rarely a lightning strike. In her talk, she reveals that “it’s much more like the wind, blowing constantly.”
Luck is not just about being aware of opportunities around you and taking advantage of them either. “You need to understand that everyone who helps you on your journey is playing a huge role in getting you to your goals. And if you don’t show appreciation, not only are you not closing the loop, but you’re missing an opportunity.”
Being brave enough to take calculated risks will also help you to catch the winds of luck in your sails, too. Increasing your luck is going to require a new set of rules, stepping out of your comfort zone, and facing your fears. Explorers who bravely navigate uncharted digital waters will be the ones that discover and seize opportunities that come their way.
It’s easy to perceive the innovative brands that surround us as lucky. But we need to remember that they all began with a sales pitch and somebody replying, “That’s crazy, it will never work.”
